The Russian forces invading Ukraine are being attacked not only by drones from the air, but also by land-based remotely-controlled vehicles placed directly into the enemy trenches.

Witnesses of this new technology call it a “deadly surprise for the Russian army”. Ukraine engineers have begun actively developing remote-controlled drone cars able to carry explosive charges onboard.


“Russian sources write that in addition to aerial drone kamikazes, the Ukrainian armed forces are starting to use remotely controlled ground drones. These mobile drones are maneuverable and quiet. According to Russian soldiers, these drones have a heat sensor, and as soon as they get close, the drone simply explodes,” wrote military blogger @front_ukrainian.


The blogger also shared photos of the new weapon, but possibly more models exist:




This development should not come as a surprise, because both sides of this armed conflict have been experimenting not only with unmanned aerial vehicles, but also with trucks and armored cars that have the remote-control functionality. Until now, these earlier efforts had limited success.
