EAW Showcases New AC6 2-Way Full Range ADAPTive Column Loudspeaker | By The Digital Insider

Following a soft presentation in March 2022, Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) will be showcasing its AC6 2-Way Full Range ADAPTive Column Loudspeaker at the 2022 NAMM and InfoComm shows. The latest addition to the brand’s renowned ADAPTive line, the AC6 has a frequency response from 65Hz to 20KHz and a max SPL of 143dB, delivering a versatile, low profile professional solution with top audio performance from a loudspeaker that blends into the installation aesthetics.

Although slightly smaller than its predecessors, the AC6  includes just as many cutting-edge features. Utilizing six low frequency transducers and 30 high frequency transducers in three identical modules, this column speaker can produce studio quality audio all the way to 20kHz, down to 65Hz, at any volume. Each module contains the power supply and amplifiers necessary for two 6” woofers and ten 1” tweeters, providing redundancy and ease of service. All three power supplies are in parallel allowing AC6 to continue operating even if one power supply fails. And if a transducer or acoustic module fails EAW’s Adaptive technology can self-heal around the failed component allowing operation to continue with minimal impact in the listening area.

Managed via EAW’s Resolution 2 software, the AC6 can compensate for coverage and directivity with its Adaptive Performance technology, and is also equipped with EAW’s Focusing and DynO digital signal processing. This means that at any volume, the AC6 provides clear and dynamic sound with a pristine impulse response, with a three-dimensional coverage – 120 ° Horizontal x Adaptive Vertical — making it suitable for even the most acoustically challenged spaces.

As EAW explains, the AC6 uses patented Adaptive technology to generate the vertical coverage to be precisely customized to a room and audience seating configuration, while keeping sound off reflective surfaces like walls and balcony faces. While adaptive coverage is controlled through EAW’s Resolution 2 software, internal coverage presets can be stored and recalled through the rear panel LCD screen and encoder or using the contact closures inputs located on the input panel.

“We are excited to demo the new AC6, as it is equipped with the same powerful DSP toolkit that EAW is known for, but inside a small-format column enclosure,” says TJ Smith, president of Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW). “With the addition of the AC6 to our ADAPTive Line, we affirm our mission in being a driving force of innovation and reliability in the world of live sound, and a standout choice for AV integrators and installations.”

EAW has made flying multiple AC6s easy. 28 fly track mounting points provide quick and easy connection with EAW and third-party accessories. An infinite number of columns can be flown as mains or integrated with the larger Anna or Anya line arrays for endless coverage possibilities. Just like its other ADAPTive models, the AC6 is integrated with Dante redundant networking as well as analog redundancy capabilities making connecting and communication to each module streamlined and dependable.

The AC6 2-Way Full Range ADAPTive column is a vertical column design designed to be a perfect fit in any installation and is available in black or white. It is also suitable for outdoor use when input/output weather protection covers are used. Steel mesh and foam behind the grill combine to keep water off the transducers and out of the electronics. Conformally coated circuit boards provide an additional layer of protection.
